Provisioner is a separate designation for people who manage organization-wide settings in Ping. It is independent from Client Assignments, Org Unit leadership, organization role, and seat type.

The person who creates a Ping organization becomes its first Provisioner.

What Provisioners can manage

Provisioners can manage:

  • Billing — Plans, seats, invoices, and payment methods.
  • Integrations — Organization-level connections such as Karbon, Financial Cents, HubSpot, ClickUp, Slack, and Salesforce.
  • Client Assignments — Assign clients directly to people and update assignments in bulk.
  • Org Units — Configure the organization's reporting structure, memberships, and one or more unit leaders.
  • Client Owner — Set or clear the Client Owner checkbox on an existing direct client assignment.
  • Firm and Revenue access — Revoke or restore either surface for a member who is already eligible. These controls do not make an ineligible member eligible.
  • Organization settings — Organization name, member invitations, and member roles.
  • Meeting Assistant settings — Auto-sync, auto-schedule, auto-share, and internal meeting privacy.
  • Assistant appearance — The assistant name and avatar used across the organization.
  • Tags and templates — Organization-wide tags and email templates.
  • Provisioner access — Grant or revoke the Provisioner designation for other members.

Owners can also import clients and manage Client Assignments. Other organization-wide configuration remains Provisioner-managed.

What Provisioner access does not grant

Provisioner access controls configuration, not data visibility.

A Provisioner does not automatically receive access to every client or meeting. Data visibility follows:

  • Direct Client Assignments for ordinary client access.
  • The organization's open-client setting when Client Assignments are off.
  • Client Owner status on an existing assignment for available Client Health and Revenue scope.
  • Org Unit leadership for staff and service-line oversight only, not client, meeting, or email access.
  • Meeting participation and sharing.
  • Content-specific privacy rules.
  • The member's eligible Firm and Revenue access, where those surfaces are available.

A regular User can therefore be a Provisioner and manage the organization without receiving broad access to client content.

Firm and Revenue access

Provisioners can independently revoke or restore a member's Firm or Revenue access. A restore reevaluates the member's current eligibility, such as Organization Owner access, Org Unit leadership, or Client Owner status. It does not make an otherwise ineligible member eligible. These controls do not change direct Client Assignments, Client Owner status, or meeting, email, and content-sharing rules.

Provisioner compared with Owner

To manage both organization configuration and Owner-level responsibilities, a person needs both Owner and Provisioner access.

Managing Provisioner access

Provisioner access is managed in Settings → Organization → Members.

Only an existing Provisioner can grant or revoke Provisioner access. There must always be at least one Provisioner in the organization, so the last Provisioner cannot remove their own access until another Provisioner is assigned.

Provisioner access can be given to any organization User, regardless of seat type. The legacy Manager role is not required.

Frequently asked questions

Can an Owner change settings without being a Provisioner?

Owners can import clients and manage Client Assignments. Billing, integrations, Org Unit configuration, and other organization-wide settings require Provisioner access.

Can a Lite Seat User be a Provisioner?

Yes. Seat type controls personal product features, not organization administration.

Can there be multiple Provisioners?

Yes. There is no set limit, but the organization must always have at least one.

Does Provisioner access let me see every client?

No. Client access follows direct assignments, the organization's open-client setting, and any independent Owner access. Leading an Org Unit does not by itself grant client, meeting, or email access.

Can a Provisioner assign Org Unit leaders?

Yes. Provisioners configure Org Units and can assign one or more leaders to them.

Is the Manager role required for Provisioner access?

No. The legacy Manager role is being phased out. A User can be a Provisioner, an Org Unit leader, or both.
