Ping can turn clear follow-up tasks from your meetings into action items you can review, assign, and track.

How action items are created

Ping creates action items after a meeting has a usable transcript. It looks for clear tasks that someone agreed to do or was assigned.

Ping tries to keep the list focused. If the conversation only has a loose idea, a general discussion, or a task with no clear owner, Ping may skip it.

What Ping can fill in

  • A short task title.
  • A description when the transcript gives enough context.
  • An assignee when a team member is clearly responsible.

What you may need to update

Ping does not choose due dates automatically. You can add or change due dates, assignees, titles, descriptions, and statuses.

You can also select more than one action item from the Action Items page and change the status or assignee in bulk.

Where to manage action items

You can manage action items from the meeting page or from the Action Items page.

The Action Items page lets you filter by status, meeting, client or contact, assignee, and due date. The Past Due view shows items with a due date in the past that are not completed.

What happens when you assign an item

When you assign an action item to a teammate, Ping may share the related meeting with them so they can see the context. They may also receive an email notification, depending on their notification settings.

What action items do not do

  • They do not send work to another app unless a supported integration is connected and configured.
  • They do not mean Ping is certain the task is correct. Review important items before relying on them.
  • They are based on the transcript, so unclear audio, missing speaker names, or missing participants can affect the result.
