When your firm turns on Client Assignments, each person sees only the clients assigned to them. Ping lets you ask for access to a client you're already working with. If you meet with or email someone from a client you're not assigned to, Ping emails you a link to request access, and the client's owner can approve it in one click.
When Ping asks you to request access
Ping sends you an email when both of these are true:
- You had a meeting with, or were directly emailed by, a contact from a client.
- You aren't assigned to that client, so you can't see it in Ping.
Ping doesn't ask again about the same client for 30 days, whether or not you requested access.
Request access
- Open the email from Ping and select the link to request access. The link works for 7 days.
- Confirm the request.
Ping emails the client's Client Owners. If the client has no Client Owner, Ping emails your firm's provisioners. You get an email when someone approves or denies your request. Once approved, the client appears on your Clients page.
You can also request access from the Clients page.
Approve or deny a request
If you're a Client Owner, or you're a provisioner and the client has no Client Owner, Ping emails you when someone asks for access. Select the link in the email to approve or deny it, or use the requests bar on the Clients page. The first person to decide settles the request.
Assigning the person to the client yourself also approves any open request. You can assign from the Assignments column on Clients or the Clients column in Settings → Organization → Members.
Turn these emails off
You choose which access emails you get:
- Go to Settings → Notifications.
- Under Client access requests, turn off any of:
- Clients you can't see: emails asking you to request access.
- Requests to review: emails when someone asks for access to a client you own. Only Client Owners and provisioners see this one.
- Decisions on your requests: emails when your request is approved or denied.
With these off, you can still request and approve access on the Clients page.
