Client management happens in two places: the client detail page for renaming and contact edits, and the Clients page for delete and merge.
Contacts are separate from Client Intelligence "People." Hard contact records, including name, email, and phone, live on the client's Contacts tab.
How contacts are created and shared
Ping creates contacts automatically from email and meeting activity. When you send or receive an email with someone, or when someone appears in a meeting, Ping creates a contact for that person.
New contacts start as user-scoped contacts, visible to you and available for you to link to clients. After a contact is linked to a client, Ping makes it visible to your organization for linking to other clients and for data searches, including transcript searches.
Renaming a client
- Open the client from the Clients page.
- Hover over the client name at the top of the page.
- Click the pencil icon.
- Enter the new name.
- Press Enter to save, or press Esc to cancel.
Editing a contact's name, email, or phone
- Open the client.
- Select the Contacts tab.
- Find the contact and click the pencil icon in that contact's row.
- In Edit Contact, update the Name, Email, or Phone field.
- Click Save.
Use Add Contact on the same tab to link an existing contact or create a new one for this client.
Removing a client
Deleting a client permanently removes the client record. Contacts linked to that client are unlinked, not deleted. They stay in Ping and remain linked to any other clients that use them.
This cannot be undone.
To delete one client:
- Go to the Clients page.
- Open the More menu for the client.
- Select Delete.
- Confirm the deletion.
To delete several clients:
- Go to the Clients page.
- Select the clients with the checkboxes on the left.
- Click Delete in the action bar.
- Confirm the deletion.
Merging duplicate clients
Use merge when the same client was created more than once.
- Go to the Clients page.
- Select two or more clients with the checkboxes on the left.
- Click Merge in the action bar.
- Choose the destination client. This is the client that will remain.
- Confirm the client name.
- Click Merge Clients.
When clients are merged:
- Contacts from the selected clients are moved to the destination client.
- Contacts with the same email are deduplicated.
- The source clients are permanently deleted.
- The destination client remains.
Merging cannot be undone. Confirm the destination client before merging.
